Overview

BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE
Aegibong is a hilltop area near the confluence of the Han River and Imjin River, located close to the Civilian Control Line making it one of the closest accessible spots to North Korea.
The highlight of this area is the Jogang Observatory, where on clear days, visitors can see North Korean villages, farmlands in Gaepung County (Hwanghae Province), and even Mt. Songak with the naked eye.
Inside the observatory, you'll also find informative exhibits on North Korea and a Starbucks café the first ever established within the DMZ region. Sipping coffee while overlooking North Korea offers a truly unique and reflective experience.
Aegibong is more than a scenic spot — it’s a symbolic location where visitors can witness the reality of division and contemplate hopes for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
