DMZ The 2nd Tunnel
The 2nd Tunnel, one of several excavated by North Korea for the purpose of infiltrating South Korea, was discovered in 1975. Spanning a total length of 3.5 kilometers, only 500 meters of the tunnel is accessible to civilians. To visit this site, visitors are required to book as part of the DMZ Peace Tours. Additionally, personal identification, such as a passport or Alien Registration Card (ARC), is necessary for access.
6
Peace Observatory
Cheorwon Peace Observatory offers a panoramic view of the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone separating North and South Korea) in the central forward area of Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do. From this observatory, one can see the Cheorwon plain, areas of the DMZ, and even North Korea. Photos of the 2nd Tunnel, military barracks, checkpoints, and the DMZ are exhibited here. Visitors can easily get to the observatory using the 50-person monorail, see the remains of the ancient Taebongguk (nation), and even see the faces of North Korean soldiers through binoculars.
7
Korean Worker`s Party Headquaters (Labor party history)
This three-story building located in Cheorwon-eup was constructed in 1946. Used as the headquarters of the Labor Party until the break of the Korean War on June 25, it is now a tourist attraction that still holds onto the vestiges of the Korean War.
Cheorwon Korean Workers' Party Headquarters is under the control of Cheorwon-gun Office as part of the Security Tour Course. Hundreds of thousands of people visit this tourist destination every year.

So Much More Than Just a Tour
Review for : DMZ 2nd and Infiltration Tunnel and UNESCO Global Geoparks Tour
I thought this would just be another DMZ visit, but it turned out to be so much deeper. The hike through the Hantangang trail was stunning—lava cliffs, waterfalls, all untouched. But then you step into the 2nd Tunnel and remember the pain and division behind the beauty. It really makes you think.

Peaceful Scenery, Powerful Lessons
Review for : DMZ 2nd and Infiltration Tunnel and UNESCO Global Geoparks Tour
It’s not often you take a tour where you feel both relaxed and reflective. The geopark was full of gorgeous views, but what made the day special was the context our guide explained how the land itself has seen war and healing. The 2nd Tunnel was sobering, but necessary to understand Korea’s story.

Beautiful Nature, Deep History
Review for : DMZ 2nd and Infiltration Tunnel and UNESCO Global Geoparks Tour
The landscapes on this tour were absolutely breathtaking. The Hantangang valley was filled with volcanic rock formations and peaceful river views so calm and healing. But what really stayed with me was walking through the 2nd Tunnel and learning how it was built for invasion. This tour balances natural beauty with real, powerful history.

One of the Best Tours in Korea
Review for : DMZ 2nd and Infiltration Tunnel and UNESCO Global Geoparks Tour
This was one of the most meaningful tours I’ve taken. Seeing the tunnel and then looking into North Korea from the observatory really made me think about the reality of the divided peninsula. Then, walking along the Hantangang trail felt healing it was like the land itself was helping tell the story. The guide, Mimi, was fantastic, very knowledgeable and kind.

Intense, but Beautiful Experience
Review for : DMZ 2nd and Infiltration Tunnel and UNESCO Global Geoparks Tour
I joined this tour hoping to learn more about Korean history, and I got exactly that and more. The 2nd Tunnel and the Peace Observatory were both powerful places to visit. But I didn’t expect to be so impressed by the Hantangang River valley. The scenery was stunning, with lava rock cliffs and calm waters. It helped me reflect on everything I’d seen earlier in the day.
